My Concern:
In year 2020 to October (10 months) some 30,000,000+ guns were bought in the USA and a high percentage were NOT Trump supporters. One of the biggest problems is that a large proportion injuries and death by firearms is "accidental" due to lack of training. To get training you will find that many trainers will hit you with the NRA propaganda.
The first thing they will tell you is not to refer to your gun as a weapon, IT IS A WEAPON designed to KILL!

Before coming to the USA I was a keen pistol and rifle shooter back in the UK. In 1997 handguns were banned and had to be handed in to the regional Police HQ. My family and I came to the USA after the 2001 IT crash in 2003. In 2006 I took the Laramie County Sheriff Dept training in NRA Basic Pistol and Personal Protection in the Home training. This qualified me for a CCW permit. However I did not deem that it provided me with the necessary skill to safely "carry concealed" in public. I later took a week long course at the FRONTSIGHT ACADAMY in Nevada in Combat Pistol terminating in a qualifying test in a shoot house. I am now a full Commander level member of Frontsight to continue my training.
I am semi-retired from 40 years in IT and Project Management and, until recently, worked at a public shooting range part time assisting our customers. This role has allowed me to understand the common problems people experience. This can be from how to mount and bore sight a new scope on a rifle, to why are my shots all over the target? I am a NRA certified instructor for Rifle & Pistol and a former member of the Royal Marines where my main role was as a rifleman back in the 1970's. My role here is to train you in the fundamentals so you achieve a level of competence that ensures you are safe, so you can enjoy shooting, and to help you achieve your goals of improving your skills to a high level for whatever activity you wish to partake. From then you will be prepared and grounded to take up instruction with specialist instructors in your chosen field.
Since 1970 I have trained in the martial arts, Okinawa Karate styles. I was also fortunate to train in the fighting methods of William Ewart Fairbairn courtesy of the Royal Marines at the Commando Training Center, Lympstone, Devon UK. I have included some pages here which maybe of interest to those who enjoy researching history. The fundamentals of "Special Forces" and SWAT teams were born in Shanghai by William Fairbairn in the 1930's when many techniques used in WW2, and still today, were developed.
